Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use HireIndyPros as a customer or professional (“pro”). By using this site, you agree to the practices described below.
Last updated: January 15, 2026
1. Who We Are
HireIndyPros (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Platform”) is an online marketplace that connects consumers (“customers”) with independent service professionals (“pros”) for home services and related work. We are not the employer of pros and do not provide the services listed on the Platform. We operate the website, tools, and features you use to create accounts, post jobs, send quotes, manage projects, exchange messages, and leave reviews.
2. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you:
- Visit or use our website or related pages;
- Create an account as a customer or pro;
- Submit job requests, quotes, or messages;
- Upload content such as photos, documents, or reviews; or
- Interact with us by email, phone, or other support channels.
This Policy does not apply to how individual pros handle information outside our Platform (for example, information you give a pro directly by phone, text, or their own website). Pros are independent businesses and are responsible for their own privacy practices.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide to us
We collect information that you choose to share when using the Platform, including:
- Account details (name, email address, phone number, password, role: customer or pro);
- Profile details (business name, logo, address, service areas, licenses, insurance, bonding and similar credentials, bio, and links to your website or social pages);
- Job information (job title, description, photos, budget, location, requested service category);
- Quotes and messages exchanged between customers and pros through the Platform;
- Reviews and ratings you submit about pros or jobs; and
- Any other information you send us voluntarily (feedback, support requests, attachments, etc.).
3.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the Platform, we may automatically collect certain technical information, such as:
- Device and browser information (type, version, settings);
- IP address and general approximate location;
- Pages you visit, actions you take, and timestamps;
- Cookies or similar technologies used to maintain your session and remember preferences.
We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the Platform (for example, to keep you logged in, prevent fraud, and understand what features are most useful).
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for purposes such as:
- Creating and managing your account;
- Connecting customers and pros, including posting jobs and sending/receiving quotes;
- Enabling messaging and notifications between customers, pros, and our Platform;
- Displaying public content such as pro profiles and customer reviews;
- Operating, maintaining, and improving the functionality, performance, and security of the Platform;
- Preventing, investigating, and responding to fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our Terms of Use; and
- Communicating with you about your account, service updates, or changes to this Policy.
5. Legal Basis and Legitimate Interests
Where applicable, we rely on several legal bases to process your information, including:
- To perform our contract with you (for example, to maintain your account and enable use of the Platform);
- Our legitimate interests in operating a safe, efficient service marketplace;
- Your consent, where we rely on it for specific features or communications; and
- Compliance with legal, regulatory, or law-enforcement requirements.
6. How We Share Information
6.1 Sharing with other users
The core purpose of the Platform is to connect customers and pros. As part of that:
- When customers post jobs, certain details (such as job description, location area, budget range) may be visible to pros.
- When pros create profiles, certain details (such as business name, city, services offered, badges, and reviews) may be visible to customers and visitors.
- Messages and quotes shared through the Platform are generally visible only to the involved customer, pro, and our system for support, security, and compliance purposes.
6.2 Service providers and technical partners
We may share information with third-party service providers that help us operate the Platform (for example, hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment or background-check partners, if used). These providers are required to handle your information securely and use it only for the services they provide to us.
6.3 Legal and safety
We may access, preserve, and disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid government requests;
- Enforce our Terms of Use or other agreements;
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or the Platform; or
- Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, and meet legal or accounting requirements. We may retain certain transaction records, messages, and reviews even after your account is deactivated, for legitimate business, security, and compliance reasons.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the ability to:
- Access or update certain account information from your profile settings;
- Deactivate your account by contacting us;
- Request that we delete certain information, subject to legal and legitimate business requirements;
- Opt out of non-essential emails or marketing messages we may send; and
- Ask questions about how we handle your data.
Some information (like reviews left for pros) may remain visible even if your account is deactivated, as part of the Platform’s historical records.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for using a strong, unique password for your account.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is not intended for children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided information to us, we will take steps to delete that information and may close the related account.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page and may also notify you by email or through the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes become effective means you accept the revised Policy.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, you can contact us using the contact details provided on the Site.
